Community Walk against Hate (Acton Boxborough)
October 15th, 2023 - Walk Against Hate
IAGB co-sponsored and participated in the event ‘Walk Against Hate’ organized in the Acton and Boxborough Communities. The New England Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and the Congregation of Beth Elohim (CBE) were the organizers of the event. The walk started at the Acton Boxborough high school and ended at the Gardner Field in West Acton with a moving song led by the singing duo Trisha and Thara Iyer from the AB high school. It was attended by several community members and IAGB EC who displayed respect, acceptance, empathy, and love towards combating hate, bigotry and prejudice.
Over 500 people came together to denounce hate in all its forms, including racism and hate against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, LGBTQ, Muslim, and Jew communities. It was an amazing gathering addressed by State Senator Jamie Eldridge, Rep. Simon Cataldo, Rep. Dan Sena, Rabbi Braham David – CBE, Rev. Eleanor Terry – Church of the Good Shepherd, Jonah Steinberg – ADL Director, and IAGB President Tanu Pheonix. They all spoke powerfully to end all forms of hate, antisemitism, and bigotry.
