About

India Association of Greater Boston is the premier Indian-American umbrella organization in New England representing the Indian-American community in the Greater Boston area, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and the states of New Hampshire and Rhode Island.Since its inception in 1962 as a sociocultural organization, India Association of Greater (IAGB) has been playing an important role in bringing the Indian community together to celebrate India’s Independence day as “India Day” in Greater Boston area. In addition, IAGB also celebrates India’s Republic Day on a large scale that draws a wide cross section of the Indian and American community.

IAGB is one of the oldest Indian organizations in New England, and over the years has encouraged participation of children and young adults to keep in touch with their cultural heritage, encourage friendship and cooperation in the community.

In it’s early years, IAGB played a major role in bringing the small Indian community together to celebrate Indian festivals and special occasions. However, today’s India Day celebration at the Hatch Memorial Shell is one of the largest ethnic events in the city of Boston, drawing more that 12,000 people from all walks of life.

IAGB has been able to accomplish this feat because of the dedication and hard work of it’s volunteer officers and continued enthusiastic support from the Indian and Non-Indian community in the Greater Boston area.
